Lancia Delta Special Edition - Martini 6
Lancia celebrated winning their sixth and final World Constructors
Championship by introducing the MARTINI 6 at the end of the 1992
season. More decorative than its predecessor, the Martini stripes
run down each side of the car and around the middle of the tailgate.
Many people assume that these models are based on the Evo 2, but
they are in fact non-catalyser - which strictly speaking categorises
them as Evo 1. They were however constructed at the very end of the
non-catalyser production run, just before the Evo 2 came on stream.
The legend "World Rally Champion" is reproduced on both of the lower
sides of the car and across the top of the front bumpers. A large
Lancia logo can be found to the rear of the roof and the roof
spoiler has "Martini Racing" emblazoned upon it. HF decals are
applied high on each rear side panel and a "World Rally Champion"
badge adorns the tailgate along with the appropriate numeral - "6".
Inside, a carbon-fibre surround fits around the gear-lever, which
has a numbered plaque below it. The seats are finished in light-blue
cloth, the fronts being high-backed. The gear change has Teflon
bushes, which give it a slightly different feel, and the wheels are
painted white. In all, 310 Special Edition Martini 6 cars were built
- the car displayed at Walkers Garage being number 27.
